Tick And Flea Pest Control

Heartland’s outdoor flea and tick prevention program sets its sights on preventing and removing any flea and/or tick populations that may exist on your property. We target all turf areas on your property with products that are safe for you and your pets. Our products contain the same effective ingredients found in many flea and tick shampoos.

The treatment eliminates the population of ticks and fleas immediately. It will remain continue to kill insects for 2-3 weeks after the treatment. We offer treatments 6 weeks apart, 4 times a year, keeping your yard safe and enjoyable.

• Step 1: After a quick consultation, we will send one of our skilled technicians out to examine your property and find the source of the infestation.
• Step 2: Once your yard is evaluated, we will move quickly in order to stop the spread of the infestation. A flea and tick pest control treatment that is designed to kill the adult bugs will be applied to all infested areas.
• Step 3: The next treatment applied will be an insect growth regulator that focuses on stopping the development of immature fleas and ticks. Though ticks are not technically insects like fleas, this treatment is effective against eggs and larvae of both types of pests.
• Step 4: After both of our targeted treatments are applied, our technicians will spray a protective barrier around the perimeter of your yard and around the outside of your home. This type of barrier pest control is highly effective when applied by trusted professionals like the ones at Heartland!

• Step 5: After our initial visit is complete, your yard will be much safer and in great shape, but follow-up treatments are necessary to prevent a resurgence of the pest invasion. A technician will come out to your property on a monthly basis to make sure that your yard remains safe and pest free all season long!
  

Unlike fleas, ticks are not able to lay eggs directly on their hosts. In order for a female tick to begin the reproductive process, it must detach from whatever host it is on. However, ticks will bite and latch onto the same kind of hosts as fleas, and they will lay their eggs inside your home and in your yard. Though they do not jump onto their hosts, ticks will wait on the edge of grass blades and transfer to any warm body that brushes against them. Once they find a host, they will bite and feed on the blood of that host until they are full. Ticks must be completely nourished by a host’s blood at each of their life stages in order to mature, making them aggressive biters and transmitters of disease. Lyme disease is commonly spread by ticks, and it can be severe and even lead to death in rare cases.

When we spray for fleas we use a process that is designed to not only kill the adult fleas but also targets flea eggs and flea larvae with an insect growth regulator which prevents the maturity of a flea, the IGR keeps the flea from developing into the adult jumping, biting, and most importantly reproducing flea. Although we use a comprehensive approach to flea control outdoors , recurring services are required during the flea season because new fleas are constantly being introduced to your outdoor space from a variety of wildlife including squirrels.
